Sport Wales has announced a significant funding initiative totaling £3.5 million aimed at enhancing sports access and facilities across Wales. The funding, allocated to various local authorities, will support projects that improve leisure centre energy efficiency, create new artificial pitches, and assist elite athletes in achieving their goals. Notable projects include the installation of solar panels and LED lighting to reduce operational costs at facilities such as the LC in Swansea and the Urdd’s Llangrannog Residential Centre. Additionally, innovative technological initiatives like personalized workouts using artificial intelligence and virtual reality boxing for those with impairments are also included in the funding. The investment is part of a broader £8 million commitment from the Welsh Government, emphasizing inclusivity in sports and sustainability in facility management while aiming to foster the potential of Welsh athletes following the success of the Paris 2024 Games.
