The newly inaugurated Reata sports Complex in Scottsdale, Arizona, is a $21.2 million year-round outdoor facility designed to enhance community engagement through sports and recreation. Developed from previously undeveloped public lands, the complex features five sports fields along with pedestrian pathways, spectator viewing areas, and stormwater management systems that integrate environmentally-friendly drainage solutions. The project was executed by Valley Rain Construction under the guidance of Gavan & Barker, with a focus on sustainability, including the use of reclaimed water for irrigation and energy-efficient LED lighting. Innovative engineering allowed for the onsite regrading of excess soil, saving the city $400,000 while promoting responsible land use. The complex also boasts a unique public art installation, Polygon Plaza, which adds both aesthetic and functional value. Completed on time and under budget by March 2024, the Reata Sports Complex promises to be a vibrant community space, harmonizing recreational use with the natural beauty of the surrounding McDowell Mountains.
