This decision comes as part of a broader trend, with reports indicating that Bowery may be shutting down all its farms following significant financial struggles despite securing over $700 million since its inception in 2015. The Bethlehem site, which opened in May 2022 and was touted as the company’s most advanced facility, is now listed as permanently closed. This facility, located in the Bethlehem Commerce Center, was intended to supply fresh produce to a vast regional market. Meanwhile, Bowery’s former offices and several other facilities are currently available for lease, reflecting the company’s ongoing challenges in the competitive vertical farming sector.
