In a festive race, the small Andalusian town of Puente Genil has officially kicked off the Christmas season earlier than ever by turning on its lights on November 14, two days ahead of Vigo, Galicia, which is typically known for its early celebrations. Around a thousand residents gathered in the town center to herald the arrival of Christmas, aided by decorations from the Ximenez Group, a local manufacturer. This year, Vigo secured the second spot for earliest Christmas lights, set to illuminate its streets on November 16 with an extravagant display featuring 11.5 million LED lights. Meanwhile, other cities like Barcelona and Malaga have scheduled their holiday illuminations for late November, with Madrid opting to wait until early December.
