Opelika Set to Invest Over $1.1 Million in Park Lighting Upgrades

During the Opelika City Council meeting on Tuesday night, council members approved several significant expenditures totaling $1,107,900 for LED lighting retrofits and SportsCluster lighting installations at Bandy Park and West Ridge Parks. Key approvals included a $41,000 bid for a fiber optic splicing trailer from Midway Trailers Inc., and resolutions for professional services related to the Sportsplex Parkway Extension and Veterans Parkway Extension projects, with estimated costs of $662,300 and $342,900, respectively. Additionally, the council allocated funds for various community service contracts, including $10,000 for The Dream Day Foundation and $5,000 for the Domestic Violence Intervention Center. The meeting also saw Keri Hallford appointed to the Library Board for a term expiring in 2028.
