Colten Williams, who has organized the light show for a decade in memory of his late grandmother, saw attendance peak to over a dozen cars each night. The recent bylaw requires a permit for the display and reduces its operation from 28 hours a week to just 10, leading Williams to conclude that the extensive setup time did not justify the new restrictions. Mayor Dennis Rogers acknowledged community concerns regarding safety and enjoyment but confirmed that the council tried to assist the family in finding an alternative solution. As a result, the Williams family plans to move their light show to Essex by 2026, attracting interest from other municipalities eager to host the beloved holiday event.
