Texas A&M plans to enhance the game-day experience at Kyle Field by installing new LED lights with special effects ahead of the 2025 college football season, as revealed in a recent request for qualifications (RFQ) by the university’s Division of Finance and business Services. The proposed LED lighting system will feature advanced controls for dimming and glare, white and color-changing options, and programmable light shows, including remote scheduling capabilities. The procurement process for potential vendors is open until January 17, 2024, with an aim to finalize the project by April and complete the installation by late July, just in time for the season opener against UTSA on August 30. This move comes amid ongoing discussions among fans regarding the necessity of enhanced lighting, as several Southeastern Conference teams have already adopted similar features, underscoring a desire to balance tradition with modernization in Aggie athletics.
