Advancements in Pepper Cultivation Research Using LED Technology

Delphy has partnered with Sollum Technologies to trial dynamic LED lighting in pepper cultivation, achieving record productivity in this sector. The collaboration aims to address common challenges associated with traditional LED systems, such as low transpiration rates and nutrient uptake. Sollum’s innovative lighting solution customizes light intensity and spectrum for different pepper varieties, significantly enhancing growth conditions. During the trial, which began in October 2023, total yields improved from 45.67 kg/m² to 46.71 kg/m², with increased Class I pepper production and a reduction in lower-grade Class II peppers. Remarkably, Light Use Efficiency (LUE) reached 6.2 grams/mol, while maintaining stable fruit weights and quick harvest times. This initiative underscores the potential of tailored lighting strategies in optimizing agricultural outputs and energy use.
