Clubs Benefit from Grant Funding

In a significant boost for local sports, the City of Greater Geelong has allocated over $800,000 in Community Grants funding for infrastructure upgrades across the Cheetham Ward. Notably, the Geelong City football Club will receive $400,000 for enhanced sports lighting at Howard Glover Reserve, ensuring extended playtime for various teams. The Geelong BMX Club is set to benefit from $372,000 for lighting enhancements at Grinter Reserve, allowing for longer evening training sessions and larger events. Additionally, the Newcomb Power Football Netball Club secured $32,269 for netball shelters, while Newcomb tennis Club Inc received $21,225 for the design of new court lighting. These improvements not only provide essential support for ongoing community sports programs but also promote greater participation and safety among players. Meanwhile, completed renovations at Richmond Oval further underscore the commitment to enhancing local sports facilities for the benefit of families and clubs in the area.
