Biology Professor Chandra Jack has celebrated the opening of Clark University’s new 1,275-square-foot Experimental Plant Investigation Center (EPIC), a state-of-the-art greenhouse that will support her and her students’ research on plant-microbe interactions. This facility is equipped with advanced climate controls essential for studying how beneficial microbes can enhance plant traits and ultimately contribute to sustainable agricultural practices amid climate change challenges. Jack’s research, backed by significant funding from the National Science Foundation and the USDA, focuses on the role of rhizobia bacteria in enhancing soil fertility and plant growth. She is collaborating with her graduate students on various projects, while also exploring the effects of agricultural practices on soil health and crop yield, aiming to improve food security in a rapidly changing environment.
