Residents in Milton, Cambridgeshire, are expressing concerns over a recent upgrade to LED street lighting, claiming that while areas directly under the lights are adequately illuminated, many surrounding areas remain in darkness, forcing some villagers to rely on torches at night. The Cambridgeshire County Council is in the process of replacing all street lights in the county with LEDs over the next 18 months, stating that the new lights will direct illumination more efficiently towards roadways and help reduce light pollution. The council has yet to respond to the specific complaints from residents regarding inadequate lighting in certain areas.
