The City of Playford has unveiled new LED lighting at Ridley Reserve West, enhancing its softball hub in Elizabeth to support local sporting growth. This upgrade allows the Central Districts Softball Association and Northern Area Men’s Softball Association to co-locate, providing a centralized venue for both men’s and women’s softball. The initiative, funded by the Council and a grant from the office for Recreation, Sport and Racing, includes the installation of 18 lighting towers, ensuring all games can be played safely and effectively. Mayor Glenn Docherty emphasized that this investment not only strengthens participation but also positions Playford as a potential future host for larger softball tournaments. The new facility is expected to foster collaboration between associations and improve opportunities for local competition, contributing significantly to the region’s sporting culture.
