Funding Approved for Enhancement Projects

The Queen Anne’s County Public Schools Board of Education approved funding for several improvement projects on February 5, enhancing both athletic and administrative facilities. Key initiatives include the installation of new LED stadium lights at Kent Island High School, costing $307,122, which are expected to last 25-35 years. Additionally, the board allocated $746,934 for furniture for the new Board of Education Central office, with furniture design completed by W.B. Mason. The school system also approved $204,160 for phase two repairs of the stormwater management infrastructure at Kent Island High School, addressing sinkholes and surface issues. Moreover, the board is in the process of searching for a new superintendent following the retirement announcement of current Superintendent Patricia Saelens. Upcoming meetings are scheduled for February 26 and March 5 to further discuss budgetary matters.
