New Playground Approved for Old Settlers Park in Round Rock

The Round Rock City Council has approved a $1.87 million contract for a new playground as part of the ongoing renovations at Old Settlers Park, aimed at replacing the former Joanne Land Playground. Designed by webuildfun Inc., this innovative playground will be two to three times larger than its predecessor and feature built-in LED lighting for enhanced safety and accessibility. It will also include a swings area and a designated section for younger children. Parks Director Rick Atkins emphasized the playground’s significance, stating it will be a standout attraction for the community. This development is part of a larger renovation project that will introduce a new recreation center, expanded waterpark features, a new pavilion with a stage, and additional sports facilities, with some areas expected to open by the end of the year. Residents are advised to check for construction updates and alternate routes due to ongoing work in the park and surrounding streets.
