Wilmington’s Port of LA Clock Tower Undergoes Renovation and Receives New Lighting

The historic clock tower at the Port of Los Angeles, a 100-foot landmark established in the early 1950s, has undergone a significant $2.7 million restoration, enhancing its visibility and functionality. Recently completed upgrades include a state-of-the-art LED lighting system that can change colors, allowing the tower to light up in shades representing the city’s flag. The renovation addressed water damage and structural wear, improving the facade, sound system, and other features. Positioned at the south end of the marine terminal, the tower serves as a beacon for ships and visitors alike, with plans for it to be illuminated each night in coordination with various events. Port officials highlight the clock tower’s important role in showcasing the region’s storied history and legacy.
