Samsung is unveiling a new prototype television that utilizes innovative micro-sized RGB (red, blue, green) LEDs, enabling independent color control for sharper and more vibrant visuals, as explained by Lydia Cho, head of product for home entertainment at Samsung Electronics America. This technology is positioned as a bridge between conventional LED displays and the emerging micro-LED vision, promising significant advancements in color accuracy and brightness. Although details remain sparse, competitors like Hisense and Sony are also advancing similar RGB technologies, with Hisense’s RGB UX Trichroma TV expected to launch in 2025 and Sony hinting at mass production in 2026. As the battle for television superiority intensifies, RGB displays may rival established technologies like OLED by offering enhanced performance at potentially lower costs, promising a future of brighter and more vivid viewing experiences.
