The Allegheny Valley School Board has unanimously approved the construction of a new multipurpose athletic field, allocating $2.68 million for the project. The field, located on Butler-Logan Road near Springdale Junior-Senior High School, will serve as the home for the district’s football, soccer, and track and field teams, addressing the need for a dedicated space following the cancellation of the lease for Veterans Memorial Field. Board President Nino Pollino expressed hopes to have the field ready for home games this year, while board member Paula Jean Moretti highlighted the importance of the project in responding to community demands. FieldTurf USA Inc. has been contracted for design and construction, utilizing competitive pricing through the Keystone Purchasing Network. Additional costs are associated with project management and lighting, bringing the total budget to just under $2 million for construction services alone. Board members expressed confidence that the investment will benefit a significant number of students in the district.
