This transition has been driven by groundbreaking advancements in pure mathematics, specifically the “landscape function” developed by mathematician Svitlana Mayboroda and physicist Marcel Filoche, which optimizes the design of LED materials. The function’s ability to model complex wave behaviors has enabled engineers to drastically reduce trial-and-error processes in creating efficient LED components. As a result, recent improvements in green LEDs and future potential advancements hint at innovations that could achieve even greater energy efficiency, possibly leading to 100 percent efficient light sources.
