Goodyear approves grant application for enhancements to youth sports facilities
The Goodyear City Council will convene on Monday, March 24, at 5 p.m. to discuss a resolution for applying for a grant through the Arizona sports and Tourism Authority’s biennial program. The potential funding would support the installation of energy-efficient LED lighting at the ballfields in Goodyear Community Park. If approved, the city manager would be authorized to submit the grant application and manage budget transfers, with the Parks and Recreation Department contributing a match of up to $125,000 from its fiscal year 2026 budget. The grant could cover two-thirds of the project’s total cost, up to $250,000, enhancing the park’s facilities for its 280,000 annual visitors while promoting environmental sustainability.
