Upton Bridge ‘Narnia’ Lighting Enhancement Described as ‘Exceptional’

Upton Bridge has recently undergone an upgrade with the installation of four heritage street lighting columns and the addition of energy-efficient LED lights, enhancing both reliability and cost-effectiveness. Local residents celebrated the new lighting, likening the illuminated bridge to the enchanting entrance of C.S. Lewis’s “The Chronicles of Narnia.” Councillor Martin Allen, who campaigned for the lighting improvements for two years, expressed his satisfaction with the project, noting that the new lights blend seamlessly into the conservation area while reinforcing Upton’s charm. The upgrades, funded through Project Heart, aimed to address long-standing issues with failed lighting on the bridge, with plans for all lights to be operational by the end of the week.
