CU Phosco, in collaboration with Mway Comms, has completed a significant lighting upgrade along the M49 link road in Gloucestershire, replacing obsolete SON lights with state-of-the-art P862 LED luminaires. This initiative, part of National Highways’ £126 million Nationwide Project, aims to enhance energy efficiency, safety, and reduce CO2 emissions in line with current sustainability goals. The M49, a vital motorway linking the M4 and M5, required modernization to lower maintenance costs and improve lighting quality. Despite initial delays due to cable infrastructure issues, the project successfully installed 255 LED luminaires designed for optimal performance and minimal light pollution. The upgrade not only boosts visibility and safety but also aligns with National Highways’ commitment to sustainability. Stuart Griffin, Contracts Manager at Mway Comms, highlighted the effective collaboration that facilitated early delivery and efficient scheduling amidst ongoing traffic challenges.
