City Announcements: Celebrating Fair Housing Month, Observing International Dark Sky Week, and Recognizing Award Recipients

The Carpinteria City Council recently passed three significant proclamations during their Monday meeting, designating April 2025 as Fair Housing Month, April 21–28 as International Dark Sky Week, and celebrating the 66th anniversary of the Carpinteria Community Awards banquet. Andrea Bifano, representing Rental Housing Mediation Services, highlighted the ongoing issue of housing discrimination, noting a rise in complaints despite the 57th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act. The city will share resources on fair housing on its website. Additionally, the council proclaimed International Dark Sky Week to raise awareness about light pollution, encouraging residents to adopt night sky-friendly practices. Lastly, the Carpinteria Community Awards banquet, recognizing local contributions, is scheduled for April 26, with board members of the Carpinteria Community Association expressing pride in their role as hosts.
