From April 21 to 28, International Dark Sky Week will be celebrated, aimed at raising awareness about light pollution and its detrimental effects on both human stargazing and animal behaviors. Initiated in 2003 by a teenager and now organized by DarkSky International, the event encourages individuals to minimize artificial light usage outdoors and to promote the importance of dark skies. The organization’s website urges people to utilize outdoor lighting “only when needed” and suggests gathering with friends and family to appreciate the beauty of the night sky while spreading awareness about light pollution.
