The city government of Pontal do Paraná has announced the installation of 1,100 new LED street lights to replace conventional lamps across 67 streets, as part of a larger energy efficiency initiative with Copel and a partnering energy company, totaling an investment of R$ 1.3 million. Since 2021, the city has been progressively upgrading its lighting system, having already replaced 520 bulbs on Aníbal Khury Avenue and a total of 1,267 bulbs across various beach resorts, with nearly R$ 2 million invested so far. This new phase brings the total LED coverage to 33.84% of the city’s lighting infrastructure, which currently includes 12,556 points, of which 4,249 are LEDs. Mayor Rudão Gimenes emphasized the importance of these enhancements for improving public space safety at night, while Secretary of Public Works Vitor Santana noted that the project is prioritized for high-traffic areas, promoting both energy savings and operational efficiencies.
