The new SAP Garden in Munich’s Olympic Park is set to enhance the area’s sporting diversity with its striking asymmetrical architecture and a capacity of 11,500 spectators, slated to open in late summer 2024. Designed by Danish architects 3XN, the arena will be home to EHC Red Bull München, a prominent ice hockey team, and will feature over 70,000 m² of multifunctional space including training rinks, fan stores, and wellness zones. The lighting design, created in collaboration with Zumtobel Group brands Thorn and Zumtobel, aims to elevate the venue’s ambiance and visitor experience, aligning with the venue’s modern identity while respecting the park’s historic significance from the 1972 Olympics. The official opening will feature a game between EHC Red Bull München and the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres on September 27, 2024.
