Softball Excels with Advanced Lighting System

The UW-Whitewater softball team celebrated a historic moment on September 26, hosting their first night game at home thanks to the newly installed lighting system at Van Steenderen Softball Complex. The purple and black scrimmage marked a significant upgrade for the program, enabling the team to schedule games without the concern of early darkness halting play. Head coach Brenda Volk expressed enthusiasm about the opportunities this provides for athletes and fans alike, as evening games will now be more feasible. Players reflected on the nostalgic experience of playing under the lights, recalling past tournaments, and the event wrapped up with a celebratory light show and music, capturing the excitement of the night. Junior left fielder Claire Kohnle summed up the experience by noting the joy of reliving childhood memories while playing the sport they love.
