Acclaimed Olympic Surfer Takes Top Honors at 2025 World Sports Photography Awards

French photographer Jerome Brouillet, based in Tahiti, has won the prestigious 2024 World sports Photography Awards with his stunning image titled “Golden Moment,” which captures Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina soaring among the clouds during the Tokyo Olympics surfing competition held in Teahupo’o, French Polynesia. The photograph showcases the harmonious blend of athletic skill and natural beauty, marking a defining memory of the Olympic Games. Following Brouillet, Petr Slavik earned the silver medal with his evocative image “Heaven,” while Anton Anestiev claimed bronze for his dynamic shot titled “Zebra Crossing.” The contest amassed over 13,000 submissions from 2,200 photographers across 96 countries, underscoring the impactful storytelling power of sports photography as highlighted by MPB’s Chief Marketing Officer, Sophie Collins.
