Cherwell District Council’s planning committee is set to make a decision on Bloxham School’s proposed development, which includes significant upgrades to the Dewey sports Centre, the installation of 12 new sports lighting columns, and the addition of various sports facilities, including netball/tennis courts, an artificial cricket wicket, a long jump pit, and 31 new parking spaces. Following a deferral for a site visit, the proposal is recommended for approval and will be reviewed on January 16. The plan has sparked considerable debate, garnering 33 objections and 52 letters of support from the public, with Bloxham Parish Council also voicing concerns over noise and traffic issues. Supporters argue that the enhancements would improve access to sports for the community and address parking limitations, while objectors cite potential disruptions to village life and unresolved noise complaints from previous developments.
