Brown County Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution on Tuesday to install streetlights at the intersection of Highway 14 and Brown County Highway 11, following a request from the Milford Township Board for enhanced safety measures. The project will feature an LED lighting system at an estimated cost of $30,000, which will be funded by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), while the county will take on ownership and maintenance responsibilities estimated at $600 annually. Commissioner Dave Borchert emphasized the significance of this affordable safety enhancement during the meeting. The intersection’s need for lighting was highlighted in the 2012 MnDOT County Road Safety Plan.
