At recent city council meetings in Moorpark and Simi Valley, Moorpark College President Julius Sokenu shared optimistic updates regarding the college’s growth, reporting a 4% increase in enrollment for spring 2025 despite pandemic challenges that previously contributed to a loss of 11,000 students. With current enrollment at approximately 14,650, the college is expanding its academic offerings, having recently introduced programs in paramedic studies and biomanufacturing, with a cybersecurity program on the horizon. Campus enhancements include a new outdoor volleyballstadium and a high-tech production room for online instruction, alongside plans for a 4,000-seat amphitheater to meet community performance needs. The college, dedicated to supporting a diverse student population—including those experiencing homelessness—will soon open a Pride Center and is also exploring the reinstatement of on-campus food services to foster student well-being. In recognition of its efforts, Moorpark College is once again in contention for the prestigious Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence.
