The northbound side of Interstate 220 in Jackson, Mississippi, is undergoing a lighting upgrade as crews from the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) replace halogen bulbs with energy-efficient LED lights. MDOT spokesperson Michael Flood urged drivers to be cautious and give workers space during the ongoing project, which is expected to last through the week. This maintenance effort addresses the need for bulb replacements, separate from previous issues with copper theft affecting interstate lighting. Additionally, a meeting is scheduled for later this week to discuss similar upgrades on Interstates 20 and 55.
