The Bacchus Marsh Racecourse and Recreation Reserve celebrated the official opening of its new Aussie rules football and cricket oval, along with six-wicket cricket practice nets, on Tuesday morning. Local sports representatives, including members of the Bacchus Marsh Football Netball Club and Bacchus Marsh Cricket Club, as well as Moorabool Shire officials and Member for Eureka Michaela Settle, attended the inauguration. Mayor Cr Paul Tatchell emphasized the benefits of the facility, which caters to multiple sports and allows for flexible training schedules. The development falls under stage two of the reserve’s master plan, which includes upgrades such as fencing, player benches, and LED lighting. Funded through contributions from the State Government, Moorabool Shire, and various sports organizations, these enhancements will support the rapidly growing community of Bacchus Marsh and foster healthier lifestyles through improved access to quality sports amenities. Future plans for the reserve also include a community hub and an off-leash dog park.
