The Marion County Public Schools’ project to upgrade lighting at high school football stadiums has been delayed by 95 days, now expected to be completed by February 7, 2025. Originally slated for December 2024, the delay is intended to minimize disruptions to football playoff and soccer schedules. The $2.2 million project will replace outdated metal halide and metal sulfide lamps with modern LED fixtures, enhancing brightness and extending lamp life. The work, conducted by Scorpio Corporation, will also extend to baseball and softball fields in a future phase, with Dunnellon High School’s upgrades set to commence on January 16.
