The Roseburg School District has successfully installed new energy-efficient lights at Roseburg High School’s Finlay Field, funded entirely through approximately $300,000 in grants from the Energy Trust of Oregon, the Oregon Department of Energy, and the Student Success Act. Completed in August, the upgraded lighting system features 28 lights with directional designs that minimize light pollution in nearby residential areas, such as the Laurelwood neighborhood. In addition to enhancing visibility during games, the new lights can be programmed for visual effects and music coordination for events, generating excitement among players and fans alike, according to RHS Head football Coach Matt Watson. The installation, performed by Musco sports Lighting, includes a 25-year warranty covering materials and maintenance, and the district is actively seeking additional grants for future facility enhancements.
