A recent $1.16-million upgrade at Softball City in South Surrey has transformed the facility with the installation of new LED lighting across all four fields. This modernization enhances visibility for evening games, contributing to a safer playing environment while being 40% more energy-efficient, leading to savings and a reduced ecological footprint. Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke praised the upgrade as a pivotal step towards solidifying Surrey’s reputation as a hub for elite softball, bolstering local and international events. The LED fixtures are designed to minimize light pollution, and additional lighting has been added for pedestrian safety. This improvement is part of a broader $3.1-million commitment aimed at advancing Softball City and supporting women’s sports.
