The Winchelsea Bowls Club has officially launched new lighting designed for night competitions and training, marking a significant enhancement for local sports. The $151,157 project, unveiled during a ceremony attended by government officials, club leaders, and community members, features four new 13.5-metre LED lighting towers that meet Bowls Australia’s night competition standards. The Victorian Government contributed $112,618 through the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund, while the club itself invested $37,539. This initiative aims to expand participation in the sport and support the growing community’s active lifestyle, as expressed by local leaders including Parliamentary Secretary for Community Sport Michaela Settle. The new facilities are expected to facilitate increased training and social playing opportunities, further solidifying Winchelsea’s status as a regional bowls hub.
