As interest in viewing the aurora borealis grows, many urban dwellers are discovering that light pollution significantly diminishes their experience of this natural phenomenon. Excessive artificial lighting not only obscures celestial sights but has also been linked to adverse health effects for humans and wildlife. In response, Waterton Lakes National Park has taken proactive steps to minimize light pollution by installing LED streetlights designed to direct light downward and operate at a lower color temperature, reducing light scattering.
