In an announcement boosting community sports and recreation, both major political parties have pledged funds for upgrades to parks and sporting facilities in Greater Dandenong. If re-elected, Labor promises $1.44 million for enhancements across several locations, including Dandenong Park, Lois Twohig Reserve, and WJ Turner Reserve, as well as a new sensory trail in Tirhatuan Park aimed at supporting individuals with cognitive challenges. Meanwhile, the Liberal Party’s candidate for Isaacs has committed $350,000 for lighting improvements at Fotheringham Reserve. The Greater Dandenong football Club stands to benefit from these investments, as both parties have promised funding for lighting upgrades at their home grounds, enabling the club to host more evening matches. Federal MPs Julian Hill and Mark Dreyfus criticized the Liberals for neglecting the area, emphasizing that the proposed developments reflect local needs and are part of broader investments in community facilities by the Labor Government.
