As November arrives, the Midwest Old Settlers and Threshers Association has once again illuminated the holiday season in Mt. Pleasant with the lighted steam engine display in Central Park, marking its 10th anniversary. This year’s setup will feature nearly 1,000 LED bulbs and new animated elements, enhancing the long-standing tradition. The Festival of Lights, which opens to the public on November 23-24 for a special Holiday Light Stroll, has also expanded significantly since its inception in 2013, now boasting over 180 displays with 25 new installations, including an Avenue of Honour to honor various groups. The event will continue throughout December, offering vehicle access and special attractions like Santa’s House, where visitors can enjoy complimentary hot chocolate. The community’s inclusive spirit is highlighted by new features such as a purple ribbon display honoring those affected by cancer, personalizing this cherished holiday tradition.
