FORMAFANTASMA Unveils SUPERWIRE for FLOS: Illuminating Tomorrow

Research-driven design studio Formafantasma has unveiled its new modular LED lighting system, SuperWire, in collaboration with Flos, emphasizing sustainability and repairability as its core principles. Making its debut at the 2024 Milan Design Week, the SuperWire collection features an elegant floor lamp, table lamp, and multiple suspension options that showcase their construction rather than hide it. Each lamp incorporates twelve slender LED strips housed in borosilicate tubes, designed to generate a warmer glow and facilitate easy component replacement. With materials chosen for their recyclability and design elements that invite users to engage with the product’s assembly, SuperWire embodies a philosophy of transparency and encourages a mindset of repair over disposal, addressing the significant issue of LED waste. The collaboration marks an innovative step forward in Formafantasma’s ongoing partnership with Flos, promoting a clearer understanding of design, function, and sustainability.
