Taiwanese LED chip manufacturer Genesis Photonics Inc. (GPI) reported a record revenue of NT$ 368 million (US$ 12.32 million) in July, driven by a significant increase in lighting product sales, which now account for 50% of total revenue. The growth is attributed to higher shipments of flip-chips and 3D COB products, alongside stable orders from Japanese lighting clients. Despite challenges from oversupply and price reductions in the LED market, GPI is implementing a strategic shift towards lighting, with plans to enhance its product portfolio further. The company anticipates an additional 10% revenue growth in Q3 2013, supported by rising lighting demands and a rebound in the backlight TV market, though it expects performance to depend on these trends as the market enters its low season in Q4.
