New York State Senator Pete Harckham announced the installation of new wind and solar-powered lighting fixtures in the Town Hall parking lot of Cortlandt, made possible by part of the $2.3 million in municipal electrification funding he secured for the 40th Senate District. The initiative, which aligns with the town’s efforts to enhance renewable energy use, involves three LED lights powered entirely off the grid. Town Supervisor Dr. Richard Becker expressed gratitude for the funding, noting that it covers all costs, ensuring no burden on residents. The project contributes to the town’s commitment to sustainability and helps maintain its Bronze Level Certification through NYSERDA’s Climate Smart Community program. Harckham highlighted that the grant funding, available through the CREST program, supports various local infrastructure improvements while alleviating local tax impacts. Since taking office in 2019, Harckham has successfully delivered over $30 million in grant funding to the district.
