Hawthorn Expands Agreement to Host Matches at UTAS Stadium Through 2027

The Hawthorn football Club and the Tasmanian Government have renewed their 25-year partnership, announcing a $9.1 million sponsorship deal that marks the club’s continuation of playing four home matches at the UTAS stadium in Launceston during the 2026 and 2027 AFL seasons. Minister for sports and Events, Nick Duigan, highlighted the expected economic impact of the agreement, projecting a return on investment of about 5:1, contributing approximately $46 million to the local economy. This partnership aims to increase access to live sports for Tasmanians while also supporting community initiatives by the club in areas such as mental health and education. The City of Launceston Mayor also emphasized the importance of AFL in driving economic activity within the region.
