Despite international efforts to combat light pollution through legislation, Malta’s response has been lackluster, with minimal enforcement and growing complaints from academics and NGOs about the decline of designated Dark Sky Heritage Areas. Critics argue that four years of revision without concrete action on proposed guidelines demonstrates a fragmented approach to the problem. The Nationalist Party emphasizes the need for robust legislation to effectively tackle light pollution and preserve Malta’s night skies and ecosystem for future generations.
