How Residents Can Recycle Their Old Christmas Lights

Covington, Kentucky, is launching a recycling program for old and broken Christmas lights, running from December 1, 2024, to February 1, 2025. Residents can drop off non-working lights at designated locations, following the success of last year’s initiative which collected 625 pounds of lights. The program, a collaboration between the city, Cohen Recycling, and the Keep Covington Beautiful initiative, emphasizes environmental protection by preventing hazardous materials found in holiday lights from polluting landfills. Most types of light bulbs are accepted, though larger decorations must be taken to Cohen Recycling Centers. Specific drop-off times and locations will be provided by the city.
