Illuminating Winchelsea: A Community Spotlight

The Winchelsea Bowls Club has completed a significant upgrade with the installation of new sports lighting, enhancing opportunities for members to participate in night competitions and training. Funded at a cost of $151,157, the project features four 13.5-metre LED towers providing 100 lux illumination. Parliamentary Secretary for Community Sport Michaela Settle emphasized the importance of modern sports facilities for community engagement and healthy lifestyles. Club president Andrew Doyle expressed enthusiasm for the improvements, which follow a proposal to Surf Coast Shire Council in November 2022. Surf Coast Shire Mayor Mike Bodsworth heralded the lighting as a vital enhancement that will cater to both current and new members, encouraging broader participation across various ages in the growing community.
