Installation of over 150 solar panels at Thame Leisure Centre has commenced, with completion expected by early summer. The panels, which will be located on the roofs of the gym and sports hall, are projected to generate 69,000 kWh of renewable electricity. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance energy efficiency at the centre, which has previously seen upgrades like LED lighting to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and lower carbon emissions. AIS Limited is leading the installation, which is anticipated to minimize disruption for users. Andrew Busby from South Oxfordshire District Council highlighted that this solar transition will extend to other council properties as well. The project is funded by a successful bid of over £160,000 from Sport England’s Swimming Pool Support Fund.
