Introducing the UK's Biggest Solar-Powered EV Charging Superhub with Energy Storage

InstaVolt has launched the UK’s largest and most advanced ultra-rapid charging Superhub in Winchester, featuring 44 DC fast chargers with a capacity of 160 kW. Strategically located near the A34 and M3, this site serves as a vital connection point for electric vehicle (EV) drivers traveling through the region. The Superhub is designed for accessibility, offering drive-through bays for lorries, dedicated spots for vans, and off-peak charging rates of 54p per kilowatt. Notably, it integrates onsite solar power through 870 solar panels and a 960kW battery storage system, promoting sustainability and reducing grid dependence. The facility also includes amenities such as a Starbucks, playground, and security features, highlighted by Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander’s visit, emphasizing the government’s investment in EV infrastructure.
