The two-wheel market is seeing intensified competition as China’s Kamax introduces its new model, the Cub X, which shares notable design features with the historic Honda Cub. Kamax, based in Shenzhen, is leveraging a strategy focused on affordable alternatives that draw inspiration from established brands. The Cub X is a hybrid model that merges the urban appeal of the Super Cub with the ruggedness of the Hunter Cub, powered by a 147.5cc engine delivering about 9 horsepower. Priced around 2,000 euros, significantly lower than Honda’s offerings, the Cub X includes modern features like disc brakes with ABS, a digital dashboard, and keyless start, aiming to attract consumers amid rising living costs. However, concerns regarding durability and the reputation of Chinese manufacturers remain, casting uncertainty over whether such models will be seen as viable long-term options in the competitive motorbike landscape.
