Kowalis Auto Group Unveils New Solar Energy Initiative

The Kowalis Auto Group, which operates Orland Toyota, Lexus of Orland, and Lexus of Merrillville, has completed a significant solar energy project to mark Earth Day 2025. Initiated in 2022, the initiative involves installing over 700 solar panels on each dealership’s roof, covering more than 75% of the available space, and totaling over 2,200 panels across the group. This upgrade aims to reduce grid reliance by an average of 41.1%, generating over 991,600 kWh annually, equivalent to saving 17,900 trees each year. The family-owned dealership group is committed to environmental sustainability, having previously adopted energy-efficient LED lighting and practices. Owners Jeff, Chris, and Ryan Kowalis are encouraging other businesses to join the green movement.
